Ellen Bialo is President of Interactive Educational Systems Design (IESD), Inc. and has served in this capacity since its founding in 1983.

In recent years, she has devoted much of her time to the management, implementation, and analysis of education market research for clients including Apple Computer, Blackboard, Chancery, Curriculum Associates, Encyclopedia Britannica, Heinemann Library, Inspiration, New Schools Venture Fund, PLATO Learning, Quality Education Data, ProQuest, Scholastic, NetTrekker, and Texas Instruments. Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Bialo has collaborated on the design of award-winning educational software programs for publisher clients, including Disney Interactive and NCS Learn/Pearson. She has consulted on numerous website content and design projects for clients such as ABC-CLIO, the American Museum of Natural History, and Kaplan.

Bialo has served the education publishing community as chair of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Education Section board of directors, an advisor to the National Science Foundation, an industry awards judge for EdNET and the Association of Educational Publishers, and a member of the SchoolTech Exposition & Conference advisory board. She earned the QED Pinnacle Mentoring Award for her work in mentoring young professionals in the education marketing field.

Her professional contributions include authoring articles for publications such as The Experts’ Guide to the K-12 School Market, Technology & Learning, and Edutopia, as well as for organizations such as the International Society for Technology in Education, the National Institute of Justice, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Congressional Office of Technology Assessment.

Prior to founding IESD, she spent almost a decade in the classroom, teaching mathematics at both the junior and senior high school levels. She also taught courses at New York University and Teachers College in psychoeducational practice, and communication and technology. In addition to her academic training as a teacher, she earned her graduate degree at Teachers College, Columbia University and is a certified educational psychologist.

Ms. Bialo is a passionate, experienced, and highly intelligent executive who has succeeded in growing a small business over the last two decades. She has extensive experience in marketing, strategic planning, and business development. Her knowledge and expertise, while theoretically based, are grounded in real world experiences both in educational institutions and businesses.
